Japanese regulator will scrutinize banks' risk-taking

A new unit of Japan's financial regulator will look into risk-taking at investment banks, starting with Goldman Sachs, Nomura Holdings and Morgan Stanley, sources said. The Financial Services Agency team will scrutinize companies' derivatives and proprietary trading to ensure they aren't jeopardizing local operations.
