Proposed workers' comp rate hike clears Calif. rating bureau

The Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California endorsed a proposal by the bureau's actuaries to raise workers' compensation rates by 29.6% starting Jan. 1. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger urged Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner to turn down the proposed hike, saying it could be "a tremendous financial burden on California businesses at this time."
