U.S. regulators warn consumers against fake health insurance plans

The Federal Trade Commission is coordinating with state officials to go after companies that deliberately mislead consumers into buying medical discount plans that they say would work like health insurance to cover their medical expenses. The rise in such scams could be related to Americans' uncertainty about the benefits of the health reform law, an FTC official said.
