Nonprofit proposes $450M redevelopment of former power plant

A $450 million plan to convert a coal-fired plant in Alexandria, Va., to a sustainable, mixed-use development is "feasible and affordable," says Gregory Staple, CEO of American Clean Skies Foundation, which released the proposal. The project, dubbed Potomac River Green, hopes to achieve LEED certification and would feature energy-efficient retail, residential and office buildings on the 25-acre site.
