Salmonella in pet food poses risks to pets and people

Pet food makers have issued almost three dozen recalls of food and treats thought to be contaminated with Salmonella during the past two years, highlighting the threat contaminated pet food can pose to both animals and people. Forty-one percent of pig ears sold in the U.S. had Salmonella contamination, according to a report published in The Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association in June.
