Study finds link between obesity, gout

Obesity may play a role in the earlier onset of gout in patients, a study in Arthritis Care & Research suggests. Experts said those who were obese at age 21 developed the condition 11 years earlier than those who were leaner. The 18-year risk of developing gout was nearly double in obese individuals compared with those who weren't obese at baseline.
