Boston official seeks city control over liquor licenses

Boston city councilor Ayanna Pressley has put forth a home rule petition to take control of liquor licenses from the state Legislature, which has set the number of available licenses in the city since the 1930s. "There's a limited number of licenses, so there’s not enough to go around, and they just go to the highest bidders," she said.
