Close relatives of childhood cancer patients have increased cancer risk

Parents, siblings and children of childhood cancer patients had double the risk of getting cancer compared with those in families without a history of childhood cancer, according to a study in the International Journal of Cancer. Cancer diagnosis at 4 years or younger was associated with an almost four times higher cancer risk among close family members, researchers said.
