Mediation requests from Sandy victims in N.J. are fewer than expected

New Jersey has received fewer than 500 insurance-mediation requests in the three months since launching a mediation program for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. The number of requests is about 2.8% of more than 17,000 nonflood claims that state officials said likely remain open. "Very candidly, I thought the take-up would be a little higher than it is," said Ken Kobylowski, the state's insurance commissioner.
