The oil industry has said that the Environmental Protection Agency's delay of the Renewable Fuel Standard isn't enough to avoid the "blend wall." The biofuel requirement, which would require refiners to boost ethanol blends in gasoline. Many cars and trucks do not run well on fuel that contains more than 10% of the biofuel and could even be harmed by it, and weakening demand for gasoline worsens the problem. "They're going to have to key in on the reality of what gasoline demand is," said John Felmy, the American Petroleum Institute's chief economist.
