Should students attend single-gender classes?

While single-gender classes in traditional public schools are becoming increasingly popular -- seen by some as a low-cost solution for struggling schools -- Michael Kimmel, distinguished professor of sociology and gender studies at Stony Brook University, writes that they are ineffective. Kimmel also writes in this commentary that single-gender classrooms reinforce harmful gender stereotypes about students.
