Department Of Justice Seeks Rehearing In Pledge Case

The Department of Justice has requested a rehearing with the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco over the decision that declared the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional in classrooms. "Reciting the pledge is a permissible patriotic act, like reciting the Declaration of Independence, not an act of religious devotion, like repeating a government-composed prayer," said government lawyers.
