Limited sex ed in North Carolina

Most North Carolina school districts offer sex education courses geared around general topics, despite a 1995 law that permits them to cover sexually transmitted diseases and birth control in more depth. About 12 school systems have held public hearings to expand their health education programs to include more information about sex and contraception, a state health department official said.
