New Maine bridge readies for debut

A new bridge to carry traffic over the Kennebec River in Augusta, Maine, is scheduled to open in three months. The 1,100-foot-long bridge, the second bridge in the state to use high-performance steel, is supported by four piers, two of which are in the water, and its steel frame is covered by 10 inches of concrete and three inches of asphalt.
