Revisions cut construction costs for Tysons Corner Metrorail expansion

Engineers involved in the project to extend the Washington-area Metrorail through Tysons Corner, Va., say they have made revisions to the plan that will cut estimated construction costs by 25%, from $2.4 billion to $1.8 billion. The reductions were made possible by shortening a proposed tunnel through the area, changing the design of elevated portions of the track and revising the stations' design.
