Takeda plans 2008 release of Prevacid successor

Japan's Takeda Pharmaceutical plans to launch a successor to its top-selling anti-ulcer drug Prevacid in 2008, one year before the drug's patent expires. The company is working with Abbott Laboratories to develop the new drug. Prevacid had global sales of $3.4 billion in the last year.
