Facebook switches to monthly metric for widgets

Facebook, in a move intended to spur widget developers to think about "longer-term engagement," is now rating the widget applications on a monthly basis, instead of via a daily metric. The monthly engagement standard as it applies to the frequency with which a mini software application is used already is employed by Web research firms including comScore and Nielsen for evaluating social-network content.
