Study: Combo slows tumors in mice with breast cancer

Researchers at the University of Sheffield in the U.K. reported that treatment with doxorubicin -- a chemotherapy agent -- and zoledronic acid -- a bisphosphonate drug -- impeded tumor growth in mice with breast cancer. In the study, doxorubicin appeared to make the tumor sensitive to bisphosphonate, triggering apoptosis and blocking angiogenesis.
