U.S. will begin Arctic mapping

A Coast Guard cutter will set sail from Alaska on Thursday on a mission to map the Chukchi Cap as part of a U.S. effort to claim more drilling rights in the extended Outer Continental Shelf. The melting Arctic Ocean cap has created a scramble among the U.S., Canada and Russia to stake out deposits that previously were inaccessible.
