Can't offer raises? Promise stability instead

According to a survey conducted by information technology job site, a promise of job security is the No. 1 way for cash-strapped companies to retain key IT staffers. More than one-third of respondents highlighted this need for stability, opposed to only 2% who said they would like recognition from C-level executives.
