World must respond to Suu Kyi's tragic conviction

The conviction of democracy advocate Aung San Suu Kyi in Myanmar on charges of violating terms of her house arrest is a tragedy that demands immediate international response, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown writes. "The generals should be in no doubt about the strength of international solidarity with the cause of freedom, democracy and development," Brown writes.
