Hot conditions are drying up lawns and landscapers in the East

The hot, dry weather along the East Coast has been detrimental to lawns and gardens, and landscaping firms are suffering along with them. Consumers simply do not want to spend money for landscaping when the grass is brown, meaning business has substantially decreased, says Tim McCarey, owner of McCarey Landscaping in Middletown, N.Y., who had to reduce his typical summer staff from 50 to 38.
