New Washington, D.C., teachers prepare for start of school

About 400 new Washington, D.C., teachers started a three-day orientation program Wednesday led by Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee. "If you do your jobs well, I guarantee you the children will exceed your expectations," she told them. The new teachers were divided into small groups for professional-development exercises that focused on the district's "teaching and learning framework."
