Commentary: Regulators need to protect "open access"

Dan Cohen, managing director and head of government relations at the Depository Trust & Clearing Corp., touts the principle of "open access" as mandated in the Dodd-Frank Act, saying it protects the reporting process for over-the-counter derivatives trades. However, he argues that disruptions to the reporting chain could occur unless regulators make sure that the principle is reinforced in the implementation of the Dodd-Frank measures.
