Researchers use MEMS devices to create artificial lungs

Researchers at Draper Laboratory are using micro-electromechanical systems devices to serve as vascular systems during surgery. In addition to providing oxygenation for human blood, the MEMS devices might be used for other artificial organs, such as kidneys, the scientists report.
