Can Eric Lefkofsky turn Groupon into Costco?

Groupon has appointed interim co-CEO Eric Lefkofsky to be its permanent CEO, disappointing some analysts who had hoped for an outsider with experience in turning around struggling organizations. The hope is that Lefkofsky -- on whose watch Groupon's value has already rallied 79% -- will provide continuity while building out Groupon's online retail operations. "It's not going to be a big-box retailer like an Amazon or Wal-Mart; it's going to feel much more like a Costco," Lefkofsky explains of his vision for the company.
