Dunford defines success for U.S. in Afghanistan

For the U.S. to win the war in Afghanistan, it needs to leave the nation in a position to support democratic elections and defend itself against al-Qaida, Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, said last week while addressing the Reserve Officers Association. "I want to make it clear that winning for us means setting the conditions for the Afghans to exploit the decade of opportunity that will come in 2015 and beyond," he said.
