Feds revise family-leave guidance for same-sex couples

Workers in same-sex marriages are eligible for time off under the Family and Medical Leave Act in the event that their spouse is injured or becomes seriously ill, according to guidance released by the U.S. Labor Department. "This is one of many steps the Department will be taking over the coming months to implement the Supreme Court's decision" that overturned part of the Defense of Marriage Act, Labor Secretary Tom Perez wrote in an e-mail to staff.
