A well-planned approach to transportation spending is key to an efficient use of resources, especially on a tight national budget, according to Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. For instance, state and local government units recognize the viability of public-private partnerships to fund projects, and a more seamless approval system for these projects is important because "our transportation infrastructure is one of the most significant intergenerational investments," Foxx said.
