Gates: Why GDP can be a poor indicator for international aid

Gross domestic product is traditionally the yardstick used to determine which countries receive aid for development programs that involve, for example, low-cost loans or cheap vaccines. However, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who is co-chairman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, argues that GDP can be an inaccurate indicator in the poorest countries.
