Target-date funds hurt by bond rout

Target-date portfolios took a hit in the second quarter as investors dumped bonds over worries about the Federal Reserve's plans to end its bond-purchase program. The losses particularly hurt investors in bond-heavy target-date funds with maturity dates of 2015 or earlier, according to Morningstar benchmarks. One analyst thinks funds will counter losses by diversifying their bond exposure.
