Guggul pills may cause more harm than good

A study published in today's Journal of the American Medical Association finds that participants who took daily doses of an herbal remedy to lower cholesterol actually showed increased levels of low-density cholesterol, and 10% developed itchy rashes. The lead author of the study says there are enough known cholesterol-lowering treatments on the market, and he discourages use of the herbal treatment.
