Lost luggage becomes major issue for travelers in Europe

The problem of lost luggage in Europe has grown so large that an industry group recently advised travelers to avoid checking bags, if possible. According to the group, on average, 10 people per flight lost luggage in April and June. "The simple fact is that there are more people flying by air. And the growth of budget airlines, most of which don't transfer bags between airlines, requires passengers to check and re-check bags," said travel analyst Henry Harteveldt.
