Expert: Purchasing-controls program may benefit device firms

Device makers that outsource part of their operations to third-party suppliers and contractors would benefit from establishing a purchasing-controls program, former FDA official Steven Niedelman said. Such a program "is more cost effective than the liability and exposure you may face should a problem arise that affects your finished product," Niedelman said.
