Hospitalized elderly at higher risk of fracture

Elderly patients who have been hospitalized have twice the risk for fractures and more than twice the risk for hip fractures, according to a study that included more than 3,000 seniors. Researchers said hospitalization can cause bone loss and decrease an elderly patient's ability to function.
