Augustine report could deal a blow to Constellation contractors

After holding its final public meeting on Wednesday, the Augustine Commission is expected to report to the White House that further human exploration in space is virtually impossible at NASA's current funding levels. The commission will lay out several more viable options to the current $80 billion Constellation program -- moves that could boost smaller companies at the expense of incumbents such as Boeing Co., Lockheed Martin Corp. and Alliant Techsystems Inc.
