Red Cross introduces apheresis machine to California counties

The Red Cross has made it possible for blood donors in Contra Costa and Alameda counties, Calif., to donate double red blood cells through a bloodmobile that houses an apheresis machine. The bloodmobile will be in both counties and San Francisco throughout the month and will provide an alternative for donors who do not want to make whole-blood donations.
