Teachers connect with middle-school students through home visits:

Teachers at a Texas middle school are visiting students at their homes over the summer to help ease the transition for incoming sixth-graders and begin building relationships with students and parents. "The first day of school they know us already as opposed to everything being new," said science teacher Bryce Blanton. "And it makes us feel more comfortable. The kids know we have met their parents and they act better."
