A boss is one who clings to power, but a leader delegates and defers to the experience and expertise of others, says Bill Flemming, president of Skanska USA Building. In healthy organizations, people form their own opinions and managers take note of them, Flemming explains. "I’ve seen organizations where the boss makes all the decisions. That’s not leadership," he says.
