CABG shows survival benefits in study of patients with diabetes, CAD

Data on 232 patients with diabetes and multivessel coronary artery disease indicated that those who underwent coronary artery bypass graft surgery had lower rates of cardiac and overall mortality at 10 years, compared with those who received medical therapy. Differences in mortality rates between percutaneous coronary intervention and both medical therapy and CABG were not statistically significant, researchers reported in the American Heart Journal.
