Hotels aim to boost meeting revenue

Group business only accounts for 30% to 40% of business at all Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, or Starwood hotels, according to C. Patrick Scholes, managing director of gaming and lodging equity research at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. Group travel spending is expected to grow by 5.3% this year, but the number of business travelers will likely go down 0.3%. This is why many hotels are revving up their meeting spaces and menu options with warm settings, technology amenities and fresher fare.
