Iowa eye institute will get $25M from casino magnate

The University of Iowa's Institute for Vision Research will receive $25 million from casino developer Steve Wynn to boost research on treatments for rare eye diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa, a condition Wynn lives with. The institute is working on genetic and cellular therapies, including the possible transplantation of photoreceptor cells derived from adult stem cells.
