Susan Parker, owner of Bari Jay, says she learned an important lesson when she hired an overqualified candidate despite initial misgivings. "When she has free time, she's not sitting there reading a magazine, she's getting up and walking to the shipping department asking if she can check the dresses to make sure they match the invoice before we pack them in the box," Parker says. "If you want to grow your company, you need to hire bigger people."
