Retailers are unaffected by FDA "gluten-free" definition

The FDA has released its official definition of "gluten-free," and retailers are going about business as usual because most manufacturers are already in compliance, said Barbara Ruhs, Bashas' Supermarkets' dietitian. Food manufacturers have until Aug. 5 to comply with the standard of labeling products, to help those on a gluten-free diet.
