Survey: Funding woes challenge common core implementation

Budget constraints are affecting how states are implementing the Common Core State Standards, causing some to reduce plans for technology purchases and professional development, according to a survey of 40 state leaders conducted by the Center on Education Policy. Despite the challenges, no state appeared to be rethinking the standards themselves, CEP Executive Director Maria Voles Ferguson said. "States deal with this all the time -- they're always underfunded," she said.
