Republic to take over Frontier for nearly $108.8 million

Southwest Airlines' $170 million offer for Frontier Airlines was rejected, paving the way for Republic Airways to win the bankruptcy court auction. Southwest's requirement that the carriers' pilots must work out their integration before closing the deal was deemed unacceptable, the carrier said. Republic has already received antitrust approval for the takeover, according to Frontier.
