BIM, prefab keep San Francisco 49ers' new $1.3B stadium on target

The new Levi’s Stadium for the San Francisco 49ers football team is "a couple weeks ahead of schedule," according to Kavinder Singh of Turner Construction. More than 5,000 workers are building the $1.3 billion stadium, and the workforce may swell by an additional 50%. The complex in Santa Clara, Calif., will include a restaurant, roof garden and hall of fame. Factors such as the use of "early computerized planning and off-site fabrication" were key to speeding up the construction process so that the stadium will be operational by July 2014.
