BMI may have limitations in pediatric health assessment

British researchers found that children who were obese and joined the "Mind, Exercise, Nutrition ... Do It!" trial attained significant improvements in obesity parameters -- including waist size, cardiovascular fitness and physical activity -- regardless of whether their BMIs increased, decreased or remained stable. The findings in Childhood Obesity suggest that emphasizing a single parameter such as BMI change is limited and may miss other vital factors in obese children, researchers said
