Drone programs face fierce budget battle

Fresh from making $1 billion in cuts to its drone programs, the Pentagon is bracing for further possible reductions to unmanned aircraft in what leaders at the department say could be 10 years of tight budgets. "We will see [future] reductions," said Dyke Weatherington, the Pentagon's unmanned warfare director, speaking to drone industry leaders this week. Still, other defense officials predicted that the unmanned programs will continue and that eventually, funding will bounce back.
