Exec: Insurers must remember lessons from Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy has taught insurers to be prepared to receive auto insurance claims through various communication channels following a major storm and to listen first to claimants about their ordeal, writes Jill Bookman, CEO of American Collectors Insurance. Teamwork also is crucial in processing claims, and motorists need to ensure that they have the proper coverage for collector vehicles, Bookman writes. These insights "certainly will help my company and hopefully others in the industry to help the people affected more readily and with compassion," she writes.
